I remember seeing these in every color stone in Tijuana 80's-90's, but what is better than having a black onyx? This was a gift a few yrs ago. The onyx is 1"x.75" polished and domed. The mark reads MEXICO TH-40 925. It looks great worn with other silver cuffs.

Gudrun and friends - hope you enjoy. All comments welcome!

I can tell you about this beautiful bracelet.

This was made post-1979. The "T" stands for Taxco and the "H" is the initial of the first or last name of the silversmith. The number "40" means that the silversmith was the 40th registered silversmith in Taxco.

      :-)))))

Thanks Aura for first love. Caper for fast love too!

Thank you Ken for your nice comment, yes good design. The silver band is strong and the cab has a nice domed shape.

Thanks Bonnie - I knew you would have more information. I wish I had a few of the other ones I saw over the years. They would look great worn together. :-))

As often as I was down in Baja in the early 70s, I can tell you the silver was so cheap in the tourist places you could buy handsful of beautifully crafted pieces for hardly anything. I only picked up a few rings, you can see one or two on my CW page, as ethnic jewelry wasn't really the style then. Love my little rings now! :)

ICYI, here's the link to the thread, shows the rings:

Katherine - I love your collection of 70's rings and that you have them all together to remind you of your surfing trips to Baja. XOXO. I didn't travel to Mexico until mid 80's, by that time the wider bands were more popular, which I bought and sold (why?, probably because most were too small for my sausage fingers). Most of the items I post on CW are from San Diego swap meets or junk stores that I found in the late 80's or traveling or internet purchases to "complete" sets.

      Here's a wonderful item I haven't been able to find again: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/92407-lesson-dont-over-clean-sterling

I can't believe I ruined this wonderful old strange pendant. But, I love it and wear it anyway.....LOL

Beautiful, Mary. Thanks for posting it. I can imagine it being worn with a few others. I love the idea and will be on the look-out for more. Not that I needed an excuse LOL
