Labelled Kamei but I think this has been made by another glass house and sold by Kamei.
Kamei were a wholesaler of glass as well as makers, and particularly in the later decades of last century they seemed to have focussed on wholesaling.
This style of glass seemed to have developed in Japan from about 1970, and although the technique was not a new one (thanks Italy), the colours and shape used can only have come from Japan.
That gourd like body with the narrow neck and rim is such a Japanese shape. And the colours......who else would do it like that?
I have now identified this vase as made by Kaoru Okawa, glass artist who has worked at Tsugaru Vidro.
This vase is in my favourites pile.
I must admit the FP is large.....and growing.
Height 25cm (10in)
Great proportions, unobvious colours and precision - it looks as an idea of a vase.
beautiful!!!!
somewhere over the rainbow!!
Very deceiving....... Looks like there's every color imaginable,....... but there are actually only 4 colors, each separated by a black border. Clever, those Japanese! [;>)
Looks like Ribbon Candy, but better!
Thanks for the love everyone.
I see I have bashed you with enough Japanese glass that you really get it!
Many thanks:

Thanks Kyra....like a humbug, as we call them.

LOVE this too! Reminds me of the county fair lights you see at night and get all excited. :)
That's such an awesome description OGF - I get that! Thanks.

Another AWESOME piece from Japan! You have enlightened me....
Thanks Westred.
Japanese art glass has been seriously underestimated and ignored by the West.
They are talented and creative, and have their own very individual style.
Make me become dazzling, great find.
Regards
Alan
Thanks dear Alan
i knew it was yours as soon as I saw Osaka!
It reminds me of licorice...tango licorice...
Thanks Anne - so good to hear from you. Licorice allsorts is so right!
Been thinking of you and all your travails - F@#$@%# illness!!!
yup f**k!!cancer???!%$
Oh this is so awesome, the sheer pleasure of this piece for itself, especially seen overall and in that second photo. Couldn't be more exquisitely Japanese if it tried! Superb!
It's a Japanese exemplar! Thanks Katherine.
I love this, it matches my paperweight!
It sure is similar Tahiti. A difficult process to make these stripes so well. Thanks for visiting!
So Jealous racer4four, where can I get me one?
I actually source much of my glass from Japan, Tahiti, and this was one directly from there. I'm not sure where you could get one in the West!
WOW! This is awesome.

Wow! I missed this two years ago! Glad I didn't miss it this time around and I love, love your hippo!!! How cute is that? This whole year has just flown by! Another one bites the dust ;)
Thanks Judy! It's a special piece.
I'm channeling hippo at the moment Sue. This one's much cuter!
Glad you like my vase. Have a happy 2018(sheesh! 2018!)
I missed this one too (wasn't around here 2 years ago). I think I've seen this same stripe in a paperweight...with a Murano attribution, of course. It's stunning! Appeals on so many levels, the stripes, the muted pastel colours, the satin finish...it's all good...
