What on earth (well higher up) CAN possibly be going on in the vintage photo? I am completely stumped!!I'll bet some of you guys know.

Full of the devil ,full of the rum as they used to say.or someone had bad gas lol very different picture.
A large family ??? But grown up. The parents on the verandah down on the right front and the sons out on the veranda ....all twelve of them. The other five or six on the left front porch are not so daring.
The house looks brand new !!!
Well...There may be a logical explanation...Maybe watching a parade or event...
vetralio50--You need to cast your eyes to the Left--11 or 12 men are standing up on a roof. And the photo, is at the very least 115 years old.
mrcolorz AH HA! A Parade or something very interesting requires a climb up to see.. and so intriguing that a risk of life and limb makes no difference. Why. Oh why didn't someone tell us on the photo back??

It is really not so high, and I believe there is a door to the porch roof, where overhang is. It is not so dangerous as it may seem, and why wouldn't,t they watch some sort of event from the roof,.
The Contractor guaranteed that the roof on the porch could hold up a dozen men....voila Proof!!
Maybe it was shot on a Saturday afternoon, right after payment day, at the most renowned brothel in the region.
The focus seems to be on the house AND people (family??). The image shows the entire dwelling-- where they could have been gathered in one spot and photographed easier.
I have seen similar views of houses, businesses and churches with folks in what we perceive as "odd" locations.

If a family--why almost ALL men? This is such a unusual photo for-- Me. But people with bigger collections may have seen similar photos for sure..
Another I'd love to enlarge and frame.

Will do--I am staying with my daughter presently--but will be back next week. I really want to enlarge the whole photo and frame it.Is that done with any accuracy??
