    Kind of pie, anyway. Neither the edible kind nor the 3.14159..... kind.

    I found it in the cheapo bin of coins I often look through. I've found everything from silver to scarce coins in them, but never one before 1850. Now I have.

    It's an 1833 East India coin from when the British had control.

      Do you collect coins to sell or keep for your own amusement? That is a really nice one you found. I wonder how it came to be there??

      Looks like it was part of a bracelet at one point, with the hole.

      PostCardCollector, I mostly keep coins. My main collection is German pfennigs before 1920.
      As for how it came to be there, someone long ago brought it back from India, and other people picked it up after that.

      Celiene, I agree. The holes destroy collector interest for the most part.

      Hi Spirit, nice find, very unique! In terms of any modifications to a coin, does a hook added to make it a pendant destroy its value, too?

      Anything not original to a coin destroys value. I have several where someone soldered a little loop to a coin to wear it or something.
      Wear to a coin is also not original and thus decreases value. Collectors want the coin jut out of the mint.
      Good to see you again after such a long time, though.

      yes, i meant loops, i have several "mutilated" ones which are probably of not much value because of that. Thanks for the info.
      I'm glad to be back, but not sure for how long. I miss the site. I will probably be on and off line for some time though.
