    Hi All
wondered if anybody knew what this is
one of my charity shop buys
i thought maybe a tailors plumb line or a seed dispenser
it fits in your hand like a glove
the end has a pin in it and swivels open for the contents to fall out as you drag it along something
looks like oak and very well made 11cm tall

hope someone can shed some light on this its driving me mad !!

    many thanks Andy

This being small would be for pistols.

This is not a powder horn. They were water-proof & wood isn't. That is why they were made of copper(non-sparking also), horn & even ivory. Haven't figured out what this is, but I know what it isn't. (TRIVIA): Why do you see black powder guns with powder horns hanging over a fireplace ? It's the driest place in the house back then. OH Bertie, welcome to CyberAsylum. Oops, I'm on CW ! LOL !!

Other thought was someone made it to put BB's in and make it easier loading a BB Gun??? Boy Scout thing???

Any wooden powder flasks you see O/L are probably mid-East tourist sh-t. The homemade BB dispenser may be for true. Hey, this is Sunday, & I'm just coming in from my hash brownie tour. Show some respect ! LOL !!

      Thanks guys for the comments
Don't think this is a tourist piece as it's plain I think Rob is bang on with the shape and probably made for the workshop and not the field
I'm loving this site CW I think I might be buying more strange thing on my travels
      ????????

OK I might be WAY OUT in Left Field here, but I began to wonder IF it might be a salt or pepper shaker that a cowboy might have used out on the range, he could add a little salt or pepper to his ham and beans without having anything breakable in his saddle bags.
