I am trying to figure out more about this piece from Reed and Barton. There is a stamp on the bottom #4s88, the number 25 (which is also on the bottom of the lid), an indentation of a cup i think, and four stars. Checked all over ebay and the internet and haven't found another one that looks like this. Also states that it is silver soldered. On its spout there are several holes where the liquid pours through as well. Trying to find out exactly what this thing is.

    Thanks for the help!

“Silver Soldered” is a method of joining separate parts of sterling and silver plated pieces.
It`s hard solder with melting point close to 800 degrees centigrade. Soft solder (tin based) has low melting point and would not stand even oven temperature.
Typical hard solder is an alloy of silver, copper and zinc, therefore ``silver soldered``.
Numbers are not relevant (internal factory reference serial numbers).
Reed and Barton used year symbols but proper cleaning is needed to identify them.
