I have a lot of brooches by Bernard Instone, non quite like this. The shape is unusual with it being long and oval. The detail is also extremely fine with every piece on the brooch etched with lovely detail. He has used lovely coloured citrine which I have probably said before was one of his favourite stones. I still Marvel at the way he finished his pieces, with the back nearly looking has good as the front.
    Many thanks for looking.

Oh no.... A brooch... Again! ;-))

      Beautiful unusual shape :-)

Lol, yep another brooch. They say things go around in circles, well it's about time brooches became fashionable again. All I need is a Hollywood big celeb to bring them back into fashion, that would make me extremely happy, lol.
    3. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Lol! If they come back in fashion, it'll become very difficult to get more of them....

At least, brooches are rarely faked, that's an interesting fact...
    4. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Oh, thats really interesting to know, but makes perfect sense if at the moment their not fashionable.

I think this is one of the loveliest of your brooches. I would so wear this on the collar of a black swing jacket. Or any lovely black blouse with a slightly vintage look to it, with a high neck, or collar so you could wear it lengthwise at the hollow of the neck. Gorgeous. How can you say this is not fashionable.
    6. Gillian, 8 years ago
I have way too many silver rings, and I would sell all of them (perhaps all but one), to have this brooch. Even with the money I would get, I could probable never be able to afford this brooch.
    7. Gillian, 8 years ago
      probably never be able......

I think it would look lovely Gillian, I'm just talking in general brooches aren't fashionable.
    9. Gillian, 8 years ago
That's just not right. I wear one of mine if it suits what I have on.

To be honest Gillian if you really want a Instone brooch you'll be surprise how many are out there at a reasonable price. This one I have to say is quite special, I haven't seen another one like it.

Gillian I love all my brooches, if I didn't I wouldn't buy them. I'm having a joke with kyra, we always have a bit of a giggle when I post a brooch.

Gorgeous and as you say not like much of his other work.
I wear a brooch nearly every day, but I'm sure people just look at me and think I'm a daggy old lady! Great thing about aging is; I don't give a stuff what they think!!
    13. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Hi Karen, this brooch is a beauty and it hits all the spots. Unfortunately I don't have the chance to get dressed up here in Spain, when I go out it usually shorts, jeans and T-shirt for me. With the right clothing I'm sure this would look fantastic on. Good for you wearing brooches, it doesn't matter what age, if it feels right for you that's the main thing. :-))

Gorgeous brooch Jean!!! If I have a jacket or coat on I always wear a brooch out too!! I am always peering at ladies' lapels to see what the brooch is on it, and have been known to comment on it too.....some of the "old ladies" have really been happy for someone to comment on their lovely brooch!!

Thank you Judy, it is a stunner. I shall be going back to the UK during the winter months, were I shall be wearing a Jacket or coat. For a experiment I'm going to take a few brooches and see if anybody comments on them, it would be interesting. Also I shall see how many people are wearing brooches, to be honest I've never really noticed. :-)
    16. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Everybody shoud wear a brooch! You can always wear one on a bead/pearl necklace :-)

When buying a jewelry piece, people usually prefer ring in first, bracelet, pendant, and brooch... very last :-/

    17. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Unfortunately I don't have a beads or a pearls necklace, maybe I should invest in a couple. :-)
It makes sense people prefering rings, bracelets, necklaces/pendants.
