Gorgeous enamel on silver vintage Scandinavian guilloche brooch. The silver appears to have a rose gold or copper wash on it. I believe it is Scandinavian because it is labeled 925 S. There is another mark on it before the silver mark, but, I cannot find which maker this mark represents. Do you know? Thanks for any help!

      925 S means 925 Sterling.

Looks like a little Axe in the front....?? could it be Dutch??

As the axe/hatchet mark, used 1853-1927 as a tax mark on old Netherlands ... so might that be what it is???
    5. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 8 years ago
It's not the Dutch hatchet mark - it's the wrong shape.

Thanks for the loves Nicspawee, racer4four, TassieDevil, martika, Efesgirl, nutsaboutas6, kyratango, SEAN68, and aura!!

And, Dizzydave, that's the mark I was talking about! The little research I did revealed that the "S" after the 925 silver mark most likely means it is Scandinavian of some sort. Denmark came up the most. The Netherlands is another good possibility.

I do think it looks like an ax/hatchette antiquerose! That was my initial thought, but, I didn't put it in the description because I did not want to sway people's initial reaction.

Thanks for all the input antiquerose, Efesgirl, and MA!!

Nope, the Netherlands is not a possibility - the axe/hatchet is the wrong shape. I live in the Netherlands (not a part of Scandinavia).

      :-))))

Thank you Efesgirl!! And, I knew that the Netherlands were not part of Scandinavia. I guess my separation of the Netherlands from my Scandinavia comment should have been more clear. :) :) :)

You would be surprised at how many people really think the Netherlands is part of Scandinavia. :-))))

      Thank you lentilka11!

And, Efesgirl, I'm sure that's true. I just wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't one of them! ;)

These beautiful blue flowers resemble the Hawaiian plumeria flower aka frangipani. Lovely!
