I inherited this set from my mother several years ago. I remember it being in her living room about all my life. My deceased aunt swore that it belonged to my grandmother on my father's side. My grandfather and grandmother both were born in Russia in the late 1800's and they immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's. My father was born in 1910. I have no idea when or where it was made. We have additional cups and I think a ladle. Any help to identify where it was made and when would be greatly appreciated.

this is Imperial Glass #473 introduced c1914 and made for many years. In one catalog Imperial named this "The Niagara" pattern; it is also widely known as 'Imperial Grape'

I could not find any type of makers mark.

Most glass of this period was not marked. Imperial Glass marked some of their patterns and became more consistent in their later years. They were located in Bellaire, Ohio.

Is this set worth additional insurance from my homeowners?
    5. TallCakes TallCakes, 8 years ago
that's an individual choice and somewhat depends on your current insurance policy. I probably have in excess of $40K in glassware (subject to fluctuating market values) and choose not to add separate insurance as my replacement policy seems adequate to me. Typically the added costs for insurance cannot be justified in the long run.
