A small selection of dust jackets from works of World War One literature published during the 1930s. These evocative & striking designs were, like all such jackets of the period, generally discarded and have now become very scarce. I've always thought it important to preserve as many of these as possible before they disappear for good and so I've gathered together some 1500 images which can be seen on my website - www.greatwardustjackets.co.uk
Should any of you have any others you'd like to contribute to the site then please let me know.
Of the books shown, the Terence Mahon is a fictionalised officers memoir published by Chapman & Hall in 1929 but now impossible to find; 'Schlump' by (Emile Schulz) published by Secker in the same year is a German Officers memoir and fairly common; Lucy's ' Devil in the Drum' Faber 1938 has been described as the finest of all war memoirs but is vanishingly scarce in its jacket; & Bartletts novel from Allen & Unwin 1930 is simply my favourite War jacket (he co-wrote Journey's End with R. C. Sheriff)
