Is this about 1"x1.5" give or take? I have a few of these too - and I think mine are circa 30's-50's. Maybe not a kid's item.
Valentino, It's 1 1/8" x 1 3/4" to be exact. I assumed it was a child's because of the small size, do you know more about this buckle? I also noticed the scroll work on the face of it and the wave like patter, so not sure if there is also a nautical theme.
I think your example is a man's belt buckle. I don't know about the wave pattern, only speaking from similar ones I have - and I only have one that's sterling - not as nice as this one. I'll hunt them down and post for you tonight if I can....
