    Commenting on what I believe to be caltrops from the civil war, I was lucky enough to buy 10 of them, surface rust but I think their the real deal!

      No documented use of caltrops during the Civil War.

      Also, it looks like your item would lay flat on the ground.

      I've read that too Scott unfortunately, but I had to take a shot on them for what I paid, I contacted the Horse Soldier in Gettysburg and sent them pics so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

      These would make wicked grape shot. My guess is that they came from Texas.
