Kagami Crystal was established in 1934 by Kozo Kagami, a talented and creative glassmaker who had spent time in Germany studying crystal glass production and cutting techniques.
Kozo Kagami won a silver for the company's products at the 1937 Paris World Expo, a medal of honor at the 1939 New York World Expo and the grand prize at the 1958 Brussels World Expo. Since then, Kagami Crystal has received many more special commissions from the likes of the Imperial Family, the Japanese government, and Japanese embassies and consulates all around the world for official receptions. Kagami Crystal glassware can be found in embassies and consulates in more than 250 countries around the world.
Although Kagami ventured into some coloured glass dinner wares in the 60s their focus has remained on crystal.
Today the company makes high quality crystal wares, including hand made drinkware, cut crystal (with both copper wheel and ground designs) and are masters of edo kiriko.
This vase possibly dates to the 1970s ( estimate by looking at it's box so not exact) and is a relatively simple work for Kagami. The plain vase shape has been blown and given surface texture, possibly by sand blasting. The very restrained pattern has been wheel cut.

When I looked Kagami up again I noticed on their website they endorse the idea of “monozukuri-no-kokoro” or passion for manufacturing excellence. It's a very Japanese concept and so applicable to the work from Kagami as you have noted Peggy. This one stays with my other crystal pieces from Kagami and Hoya; they look really out of place with the other wabi-sabi glass!! Thanks for your insight mate!!
