My sister gave me this lovely large glass bird, which I think is a Heron. It has no markings on it, but I assume it's Murano, unless you know differently! There is some damage, part of the crest is broken off and there is a chip off the base. Height is 29 cms ( nearly 12").

Yes I think Murano too. It's gorgeous - the chips are barely noticeable (really to me only because you mentioned them :) ).

Thanks racer4four, I never worry about a little damage, if I like the object enough!

I've seen many of these attributed to Murano Adele. I've also seen them marked as Venetian and Italian. I posted one a while back that was purported to be Murano, but I'm just not a hundred percent sure having never seen one with a label. I'd say Murano.

Thanks Rick55, I had a look at your bird, and it's very beautiful. As you say, if you can't find one similar it's hard to know where they come from, but there is a lot of skill going into the making.

I just had to add the picture of this bird under UV light. I was having a play with my UV torch, to see if anything glowed that I missed, and this Heron glows with a green base, and the head, back and tail glows orange. I've looked it up and I believe Selenium and cadmium can cause an orange glow.

I think this bird is Barbini, as I saw one in a local antiques shop with a label on! unfortunately I've lost the pic I took of it so not positive.
