Here was a very old and dirty project I completed. The telephone is from 1904 era. The "perch base", part that holds the stem to base is old style. I just cleaned up, waxed black finish. I try not to paint over old finish. Adds to antique look. It needed the mouth piece and replaced torn and missing old "wool" bottom plate felt.
The bell box finish was really worn to point of looking real bad. Just cleaned and waxed bells, no new paint. Stripped old varnish and replaced with spray varnish.
The old telephone advertisement mounted to shelf is a "ink blotter" used many years ago when old ink well pens were used.

Lovely, the candlestick body and bell receiver are virtually identical to the early British candlestick telephones (Model No 150) of the same era. Which makes sense as back then the early British telephones were imported from the US.
