I am a big fan of this primitive painted pottery from Switzerland. I used to travel there in the 70s with work, and I used to pick up mugs and bowls with similar designs to this Cheese Cover. I spotted this in a charity shop today and had to have it. It is very highly glazed, and has lovely pictures of farm animals round it - 2 cows, 2 goats, a pig and some chickens and a girl. It is signed W A Heimberg, who has some mentions online, but not much info about him. The cover sits on a wooden base, which has split, but I wold have thought it will be easy enough to replace. If anyone has any more info about this type of pottery, I would be glad to hear it.
