"Davis, Colline, Tecumseh. Capt. Co K 3d Mich., Car(??)., Sept. 7, 1861. Resigned Ap'l 1, 1862., and honorably discharged." is what is written beyond lyrical quotes and numbers.

    Cooper, of Ypsilanti, Michigan.

CPT Collins Davis of the 3rd MI CAV. Tecumseh is where he entered service at the age of 40.

CPT Davis resigned before the unit saw any action.

The Cavalry sword and crossed sabers on the hat would confirm the cavalry.

While the original image was Civil War era, this is a post- war copy image. This cabinet card is probably 1880- 90s.
