Recent online find: 3 cute 1940's bakelite barrettes. I am known as the crazy bird lady on my street - don't know why - I only have one happy, noisy free-flying parakeet who likes to sit on the window sill and scream (call out?) to passerbys and 2 little energetic finches who are tiny and sweet, so entertaining as they try to get their cage liner paper (only 20 times larger than they) up into their house. Sigh...I am a crazy bird lady.
When I saw this parrot barrette (2"x.5") it was LOVE at first sight. Plus getting 2 other cute bow barettes all for $3 each was a deal to me. This type of clip stays shut in hair. I'll probably wear the parrot as a pin though. Also, the hardware is embedded into the back not glued on. Nice construction.
My guess is the parrot's color was originally white, but the bows might have been a pale peach. Hope you enjoy. They are unusual pieces.
