I saw this necklace and was intrigued by it. I looked at it for some time and then put it back. The next day, I found it where I left it, so I decided to take my chances with it.

I don’t think I will ever wear it but it certainly would make a nice conversation piece. I think that the circle in the background symbolizes the fortune teller’s crystal ball.

I have found one necklace on line with a description stating that it was from the 1920’s – but I really don’t think so. There is a lot of jewelry for sale that was themed after a 1940’s movie “The Thief of Bagdad.” Many of these pieces are by Alexander Korda – mine is not one of those. The theme seems to be repeated in the 60’s as well as later. Based on the construction, I would guess that my necklace dates to around the middle of the last century or a bit later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking:)

I really like this. Reminds me of a mind reader I went to see. She wouldn't tell me anything because she already knew I wasn't going to pay her.

Because of the high detailing and patina, it looks like bronze. What kind of clasp is on the chain?

I think this is of the same period as the one in the link above. Even the chain is the same - and that's an elaborate chain! Maybe they made them in different metals, I think this one was just never, ever worn and looks new.

    I love it!

Celiene, thanks so much for your comment. You are correct, it looks like it was never worn (no surprise; I don't think I will ever ear it either LOL). Because I has no wear, I thought it was a rather recent piece.
