      Looks like bronzed Spelter (white metal) . Very commonly used on these type of vase lamps. RER

      These are indeed rare and this one has been cleaned, many of them look colored cause of the tarnish....but i brought mine back to new....LOVE It

      I'm a total newbie to this stuff, but I happened to notice your post because the base of your lamp has many style choices so similar to the base of a round side table I have that I don't know anything about. Yours is beautiful, with more pictorial sculpturing than mine, but the engraved base and trim stylings are fairly reminiscent of what I have. Do you know if this style was commonly imitated at a later period? I'm wondering if this table is older than I thought it was. I bought it an antique store with little information - I just though it looked pretty. ;-)
