Picture 3 is Mickey Rooney in his first acting role as rowdy Mickey McGuire in the filmed version of Fontaine Fox's comic strip.."Toonerville Trolley"
I have here a book of early strips, compiled in 1972, 184 pages of them in very nice clean condition.Moviegoers were first introduced to Rooney at the precocious age of seven, when he kicked off a dizzying run of shorts playing a scrappy kid named Mickey McGuire. Little did they know at the time just how long that relationship would last. The McGuire two-reelers proved to be such catnip for audiences that Rooney would be given a contract by Louis B. Mayer at MGM.

WONDERFUL NOSTALGIA STIMULATOR--ILLUSTRATED EVERY PAGE The wacky world of the TOONERVILLE TROLLEY,(FONTAINE FOX, Creator/Illustrator.(Syndicated Newspaper Cartoon Strip) Fox's biog. lists birth and death as 1884-1955 .... Cartoons, and the totally unpredictable antics of the towns characters ,THE SKIPPER, POWERFUL KATRINA, THE TERRIBLE TEMPERED MR.BANG "MICKEY McGUIRE", TEENY TOMPKINS,(THE WORLD.S SMALLEST FOOTBALL PLAYER) and this book This book a compilation by Herb Galewitz & Don Winslow in black and white. 184 pages--COMPLETELY ILLUSTRATED!!
    and many more!!!
The single-panel gag cartoon (with longer-form comics on Sunday) was a daily look at Toonerville, situated in what are now called the suburbs. Central to the strip was the rickety little trolley called the "Toonerville Trolley that met all the trains," driven in a frenzy by the grizzly old Skipper to meet each commuter train as it arrived in town. A few of the many richly formed characters included the Terrible-Tempered Truman, the Physically Powerful Katrinka, Little Woo-Woo Wortle, Aunt Eppie Hogg (The Fattest Lady in 3 Counties) and Mickey McGuire, the town bully. Many more!!
