I have had these for a number of years now, I am amazed that they sit in my house every time I look at them.
Argentan, also known as Ausführung 111, is a decor which is not all that frequently seen, and generally when seen it is in smaller examples usually standing in the range of 4 to 5 inches in height. The Passau has a shelf of examples of the décor which number around 7 or 8 if memory serves me correctly. None are this shape, or this size.
These are the only examples I have ever seen in either this shape, or this size, which I would consider to be monumental for Argentan pieces. These stand at 9.5 inches tall.
Purchased a number of years ago off of ebay, being sold as mid century cranberry Murano glass, I am still stunned that I was the lone bidder. The "exploded foil" work in these is really quite stunning, and the décor overall is much more impressive in hand than I can ever get to show in images of the pair.
The last image is a smaller example also misidentified and purchased off ebay, which I have since passed on to another collector. That example stood at about 4 inches in height.
Truly stunning vases by Loetz produced ca 1908.
