As best as I can learn, this is a 1959 White 976 machine. That is about all I can find about it and I'm not sure of the year. The White 967 is similar to it and I ordered the manual and cams for the 967 and the 967 cams do fit the 976. However it seems that they may actually be Morse cams. It will accommodate SINGER attachments. Can any of you give me any information on this machine? I have scoured the web to no avail. I can't even find another person who has one!

Thanks, Rose, I've been to those sights in my quest but thank you for your help. I'm trying to find info particularly for the WHITE 976. It's almost as if I'm the only one who owns one!

Thank you, Rose! I had not seen those posts. I submitted a review for the one on Amazon. It seems that one was made in 1970 so I think my 1959 date may be right since my ser# is 1907. Thanks again. I'm going to keep this as unsolved until I can glean as much info as I can about it. As of date it is painfully little. 8^)
Got the patent number? Do a search for that in data patent number search and see what you find!
At least I did find a couple more as I <<<<< Googled, and Gaggled, and then I Giggled >>>>>> when I found some info !!

Valentino, I have been using the machine and am very fond of it and I'm not sure I would want to sell it. I would have to look at what it would cost to replace it. It's the only machine I have that can do what it does.
I have learned that it was made in JAPAN and that there were no records kept. I have learned the following;
1. The cams seem to be MORSE cams.
2. Morse was made in JAPAN by the PINE SEWING MACHINE CO.
3. The bobbin mechanism looks identical to BROTHER.

It was made in JAPAN and there were no records kept.The White 967 is similar to it and I ordered the manual and cams for the 967 and they do fit the 976. It has 24 cams of which 14 are double cams. It will also accommodate SINGER attachments. The first year of production for the 976 was 1972 and continued thru 1977. It is of all metal construction and has a 1.3 amp motor. The cams are identical to MORSE and TOYOTA though I don't know what models.
I like this machine enough that I spent $200 to get the only other one I've been able to find shipped to me out of Texas to ensure that I would have spare parts should the need arise.
I know this post was from last year, but I have this machine!! I picked it up at a Restore in Longmont, Colorado for $25. It needs work - it is gummed up and will only sew backwards, but I can fix that.
It has all of its cams, and is in a beautiful cabinet with drawers, and has all of its feet and other accessories, including the MANUAL with the purchase date in it - June 1975. This machine was made in Japan, weighs 4,000 pounds (not really, but feels like it!) and I can't wait to get it fixed up and running well. I have a White Heavy Duty from the 50's that is my daily machine - it sews denim like a dream!
Your picture doesn't show the colors as well, but my 967 has a bluish-turquoise top, and pure white bottom. Beautiful machine.
I don't own a single machine newer than the 967. My Pfaff serger is from the 60's, my Riccar serger is from the 50's, and my regular Riccar is from the 40's. All work wonderfully for different things.

Susabelle, I am finally home at my computer. As I understand it, you have a 967 White sewing machine. The machine in this thread is a 976. They are almost identical but not exactly (look at the difference in the bobbin winder). To date I only know of two 976 machines and I own both of them.
I have a White model 976 that belonged to my husband’s aunt. She bought it new in the early 70’s. She lived out of town and the family was getting rid of her things. He brought it home but did not bring the cams or attachements. I have been able to find attachments that fit but only have one cam that was in the machine. I have not been able to find cams that fit it. Someone told me Morse cams will fit but they didn’t know which model. Does anyone know of cams that will fit? Thank you.

I have been following this conversation for the past year...and must say Thanks. I also have this machine, and wasn't able to find out much about it. The gal who gave it to me, said she bought it in 1972, after she was married and only used it 1 time. So I have this amazing machine and no idea how to use it! So I have a question for you, if you don't mind? My 9 year old daughter is very interested in learning, so I figure now is the time for me as well! To me, it seems a bit complicated, maybe overwhelming is the better word, basically because of all the cams. ( I think that's what they're called) Do you feel like this would be a good machine for beginners? Or should we start out on something else? Any and all opinions are welcomed,)

Hello, I came across this site searching for info on the model 967 I just bought second hand. Sorry I don't know answer to original post. Not sure how old mine is, maybe someone here knows? It has the small outlet labeled "light" and "motor" but the plugs are not labeled such. One of the wires has an old clear plastic cover on it. Anyone know which is which? I've ordered a manual. I haven't used a sewing machine since high school home ec in the mid 80s LOL.
I too have recently acquired a White Super Deluxe Sewing Machine Model #967< It is in near perfect condition and came with a beautiful wood cabinet. My dad lives in a retirement community and in their swap store it was marked $3.00. My price was even better $0.00! LOL! I have been scouring the internet for attachments and found a downloadable .pdf user manual. I didn't even know what a cam was until I started researching and with the information on this forum I have been able to locate some Morse cams. I guess I can spring for the 30+ dollars since I got the machine for nothing. It sews beautifully and would like to find other attachments for it but there doesn't seem to be many additional parts available or a lot of information. Am glad I found other owners of this beautiful vintage sewing machine! Any information about what attachments I could use in place of the originals would be greatly appreciated.

The debut of the WHITE 976 dates to 1976/77. It's a Japanese badged, cam-capable, zigzag machine which is typical of WHITE machines in this era. The style and the blue-and-white color point clearly to the '7os, as does the typeface in the manual. I found a local retail newspaper ad on a archive site that dates this model specifically to Spring 1977, but it was likely introduced in Fall of '76 since it's on sale for $270. MSRP was $370 (Canadian.)
I also have a White Sewing Machine 976 that I bought in 1970, still going strong and I have all the cams, attachments, botton hole attachment, ruffler, pleater and many different feet for single and double needle to do embroidery with the different cams. I have just kept it clean, drop of oil now and then, no service of any type, but now the rubber wheel for filling the bobbins has disintegrated so needing a new one, anyone know where I can get parts?
