Early morning estate sale find, lovely art deco bookends. No signature that I can find. I found another example with paper lables "Armor Bronze Co./ S.C. Tarrant Co. New York(1920s-1930s? They will be the last in my collection because my husband has asked me to stop bringing naked ladies home:)

The hands and books seem slightly more crude too. The patina looks natural though.

I see a lot of this design attrib to LeVerrier. Its unusual not to see
many in the live auction sites also. A lot of them had varying
quality in their making I see and many little changes depending
on who is doing their production. Their is a very expensive run
of statues made also with more expensive materials used which
I think was quite recent from all the dozens of them I have seen
      online.

There also seems to be many companies during the 1920s - the 30s that seemed to "borrow" design ideas from each other. I have a Nuart marked ashtray that's also listed in the Frankart catalog.

The LeVerrier version of this form in a set of bookends are titled "Délassement." It translates to relaxation or recreation. Great pieces. We have both some original LeVerrier figures, and some deco era lamps and other things done in the "manner of" Max Leverrier.
