    Hello everyone.

I don't usually start thinking about Christmas this early, as usually it is a quiet affair for my husband and I, with both of us having our children and grandchildren, as well as our siblings, living on mainland Australia, and neither of us have our parents now either.
Actually we just had a phone call as my husband's daughter is just in hospital having her 1st baby right this very minute!!!
Anyway......I thought you might like to see these Christmas pudding charms! I love them.....Do other countries have this tradition as well?
I remember as a child my grandmother would put some threepences in our puddings.......but we had to give them back to Nana when we found them!!!

The original card for the charms made me laugh......."Redeem Charm from the children for a 5 cent piece"!!!! Don't remember if this happened when we had to hand back our 3p LOL!!

Oh and my Christmas brooches and a pair of earrings.......

Hope you enjoy these, thanks Judy

Oh, how adorable!! America has no such thing - just usual Christmas Eve/Morning routine. Holland has what's called "Pakjesavond. Sort of like a pre-Christmas warm up for the kids.

      Hi Tassie,

      Congratulations on the new baby.

In England we had thrupenny bit wrapped in wax paper in the Christmas pudding - we got t0 keep them. I love the charms, have never seen or heard of those before. What a marvellous thing to still have.

Very much enjoyed watching about Christmas in the Netherlands- thanks Bonnie.

The charms are really great aren't they!!
I wonder sometimes how we didn't choke or at least break a tooth on the coins!!!
      Thanks for your lovely comment!

Those are really cool! Did they come with their own charm case? :-o
Back in France we have those for Epiphany day (first Sunday after New Year I think? the three kings etc..). We had a strange rule in our family, the one who got the charm was named king/queen but.... had to do the dishes :-))

Bijou! So you are from France too?
I was going to talk about the "galette des rois" tradition :-D

Judy, never heard of pudding stuffed with charm! These are absolutely....charming!

What a fascinating post, thanks for sharing, Judy! In Mexico, they put a little Christ child doll in the Rosca de Reyes, a sweet circle of bread with candied fruit, this is shared on 6th January (Epiphany or Dia de los Reyes, Day of the Wise Men), and whoever gets the doll has to make tamales for the others. :)

Hi katherinescollections, my Mexican friend said whoever got the white dolls had to throw a party. Mexicans love a good party. From Christmas, New Year and The day of the Kings thereafter there is nothing to celebrate, hench whoever out the dolls had to throw a party.

Don't know much about the Rosca tradition except what I've posted here, as I see them being sold at the local pastry shops and grocery stores.

Don't most people love a good party?

I've never heard of this tradition Tassie... I know it must be exciting for the kids :-)

Hi Flea, Some people poke the charms (or silver coins) into the Christmas pudding slices that are for the children. Depending on the number of children you have there, not everyone would find a charm as there are only 9 in this set.......so if you found one you were lucky!!
As it says on the card for the charms.......get the charms back from the children by giving them a 5c piece for it. So now you have the charms to use again next Christmas!! Just a bit of fun for the kids Flea........
