I don't have a lot of information about this vase. It is really only a hunch that makes me think it is a Japanese Art Deco era piece. It is not marked. All I can say is I've seen a couple other pieces with similar handles identified as Japanese. I would appreciate any input.

Vase stands just under 8" (20 cm) tall - base diameter is about 3 5/8" (9 cm). It is red glass with a clear exterior casing and an interior casing of very thin translucent white. The applied base and handles are opaque black.

My feeling is not Japanese Artfoot, but I am not sure.
Is the lip cut or flame finished?

Hello racer - thank you, I've presented my opinion with a new posting showing this piece as a lamp base. It seems that pre-WWII Japanese glass is much less researched than the post-war production but please read my new post. You are the active person here for Japanese glass and I appreciate your opinion.

Thanks to everyone for the loves.

Thanks Karen - I've been focusing a lot of attention on Japanese glass recently. When I posted this I was relying on information from Glass Message Board. I'm not so sure that was good information now. I do still believe this is a Japanese piece though hesitant to call it Iwata any more. I have recently seen a couple of very Deco-looking spatter glass vases with cut and ground rims that had acid-stamped Made in Japan marks. This may not have been a common practice but I'm thinking maybe not all that unusual either for the 1930s exported material.
