Sword

Hi need help on this item ,I brought it from a farmer in Cumbria he told me this ,that a tenant of a farm he own was in the second world war in the far east and he brought it back from that area his tanant left the farm in 1961 so he has own it for 55years, the sword itself is 34.5 inches long made from steel and did have a wooden scabbard which decayed over the years any information about it would be appreciated Thankyou Colin
