This vase was produced in the United States by Dugan around 1906-1907. It is from the line they called "Venetian". The gourd shape was popular in the arts and crafts era. It stands about 4.5" tall and is about 3.5" in diameter. The light pink base glass is rolled in gold and white frit and then blown into a mold producing the ribbed effect. At one time, these were commonly confused with Czech glass, but now we know better. Dugan would later become Diamond Glass and would manufacture a popular line of carnival glass..

Very nice, Bob! You know, I acquired my very first Dugan in a similar style a few weeks ago - the first time I'd ever seen one in person, too. It was neat to be able to compare it to the Bohemian pieces I have. I really like the form of your vase - double gourd forms are always a favorite of mine. :)

Thanks Michelle, this one was a flea market find from about 10 years ago. I think I only gave 5$ or 10$ for it... one of my luckier days :-)

This is the first Dugan piece I've seen with the frits only in the stripes Bob. Very nice piece :-)

Thanks Rick, I've seen pics of a few others from Alfredo's collection, but not too commonly found.
