Besides being a railfan, another hobby of mine is flea markets. I have found many railroad treasures over the years. I live near the NJ Meadowlands, home of the football NY Jets and NY Giants. Almost every Saturday year round they have a big flea market and I go to the flea market many times each year. I decided to visit today, this last day of 2016, to see if any goodies would pop up. The fruits of my labor produced this lovely PRR lantern. The lantern had been electrified, but it had been done the proper way, with no additional holes drilled into the lantern and all the chimney baffles left intact. Ten minutes after bringing it home I had returned it to its proper oil burning form, the way the Lantern Gods intended. I always enjoy finding railroad items, in particular from the mighty Pennsylvania. It is ironic that as I walk through the flea market, beneath my feet lies the rubble of the once mighty NY Penn Station. After the huge building was demolished in the 60's, the rubble was trucked to NJ and dumped in the Jersey Meadows as landfill!

Even as an Aussie I mourn the loss of Penn Station.
The lamp looks great - well done with the resto!

Good job restoring it to original. Much better than doing the reverse.
I figure if you want an electric light buy an electric light.
