I've been trying to figure out what this carved 1.25" wide bangle is for the past 5 years. I found it at a thrift store 5 yrs ago and immediately researched it. Many different colors of this same bangle: light pink, ivory, green and paprika most common are still offered online as bakelite but I've done the tests and this isn't. It's a very nice quality item - thick walled bangle. The carving on all colors is identical, another clue that this isn't a hand-carved old piece. My guess is 1980's. My pictures show a few white spots, but that's just operator error.
Friends you know I'm not a seller. It bothers me that is listed as bakelite over and over online. I have contacted some sellers who changed their description and price. Now it is listed as vintage plastic and mainly in the $30 price range - which is still too much :-)
Thanks Bonnie for first love, Judy and Fort as well :-)
Lovely plastic!
Kudos for educating sellers! Some are fair, and even grateful, and accept to correct a wrong description :-)
Others...
Kyra, yes most are happy to change the description and lower prices. Some ignore me, but I have noticed in this bracelet's case that nearly all listings now describe it as unknown plastic and no one seems to know when it was made.
