    Hello CW friends,
No bijou today :-) Something a little bit different.
This is a glass eye drop dispenser with two openings, dimensions 8x1.5cm (3"x0.5").
The person I bought it from at the flea market was quite a character. Japanese, but spoke perfect English so that was easier for me. He is better known under the name "Bottle Doctor" in the local/not so local glass community because of his vast knowledge and collection of antique industrial bottles. He gave me so much background about this eye drop dispenser I couldn't write it down fast enough. In fact I lost that memo and can't find it anymore, so stupid of me :-(
So I can't remember the name of the inventor of this two hole bottle here but I do remember that it was around 1933, at a time when glass supply from Europe was low and Japan had to get creative with its glass manufacturing techniques.
For the entertainment part, I should mention that The Bottle Doctor is also a musician and artist. He produced a few videos one can see on YouTube, one of them is called "Bottle Hurricane". It's quite funky, if you like all things Japanese and are into bottles (there is a lecture somewhere in the middle) you might have a laugh with this:

    Merci!

He certainly appears to be a great character! Must be a very entertaining man.
Your explanation about glass shortage and innovation sure rings a bell with me, and I think this is a really interesting and quirky bit of kit!
