    Hi

    Is this simply another reproduction?

Can anyone shed any light on the mark on the base.

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards

    Richard

      Where did you get it?

Reproduction. Here is a similar one:

Bollocks. All of the sodding reproduction artists (if that's what politeness insists they be called) knocking around Guangdun. Unscrupulous. Thank you for the comment.

Yep. Even the experts can get caught out on this Asian stuff. I have one very similar to this one, but mine is a bit fancier and more expensive than this one. I bought it from a thrift shop so only paid about 1,50 Euro for it. I put a tea light in it.

You paid less than I did. Still only 20 quid English. I thought it was a winner. I've got a lot more stuff which makes me grateful to be able to make the money back. I've been dealing with vintage and antiques for years though I still make mistakes. I bought it from a fellow trader. Though I viewed it by photograph rather than seeing it or touching it. I'll sell it on as a repro or stick a plant in it.

LOL! I knew mine was a repro when I bought it, but because it's cast iron I liked it. Is a single serving size. Has the red paper label inside the lid, all in Chinese, plus a mark on the body. I deal mainly in jewelry, but sometimes get sidetracked. :-)))))

Check item photos on Google Images, if possible. If you get sent a photo of an item and there is a bunch of junk in the background, ask for the item to be photographed separately against a neutral background.

Do you make your own jewelry? That's a wonderful talent. If not, it's a delightful trade to learn about, along with learning the stones and techniques.

I collected a lot of loose beads whilst sourcing items in Asia. They are all in Chinese and Thai bowls around the house meaning to be sold. It's a bit of a bugger to photograph them correctly. I'm sure a jeweler or artist would love them.

I don't make jewelry, but I do make relatively simple repairs on stuff I buy. I'm a scavenger. :-))))) Take a look through my postings.

Wow you have sime beautiful pieces. A real eclectic mic. I like many of your ear rings and nevklaces. Do you keep them all or do you sell also?
    11. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 7 years ago
I sell some, I keep some, I give some away to friends. Depends on my mood, lol! Don't forget to mark your Mystery as solved.

Thanks. You mentioned Barbie dolls. I have just added a doll to the Dolls section. It's from Hong Kong and I don't know whether it's a Barbie or not.

At this point, I trust zero from China.

TA, I'm with you on that statement for sure.

the.kings.attic, as I was reading thru the comments I agree with the making mistakes too. With all the fakes, repros and who knows what else, it make things very hard. I am so glad that I don't know the actual legit things I've passed up because I wasn't sure! The name of the game...I do have to say, I love that hunt.
