I really don't know anything about this. I found it with some other stuff in a bag of beads. And thought it was pretty. A magnet don't stick to it. But really don't know what is made of. Possibly gold plated? I thought it was very detailed. It's missing the latch part.to hold the pin down.

A shame that the clasp is missing, as that helps with determining the age of the piece. The hinge is a rivet hinge. I imagine it's somewhere mid-century in date.

Yea i thought is neat. .has lots of detail. Thought i lost it. But yay was deep in a box of junk. . Not sure why it wasn't with my other jewelry box stuff.. thanks for commenting!

Now i heard if you run a pearl over your teeth and it feels gritty that is real. .and if it's soft and smooth it's a fake? Do you know if that's due? It is kinda grity.

Yes, it's true. I have done it occasionally but only if I really wanted the item.:)
I am not too sure but I think that your item was made a few decades after my brooches; I would have to guess but I think yours is from around the 50's.
