Woolly mammoths are extinct relatives of today’s elephants. They lived during the last ice age, and they may have died off when the weather became warmer and their food supply changed. Humans may also be partly responsible for their disappearance due to hunting. Although the word “mammoth” has come to mean “huge,” woolly mammoths were probably about the size of African elephants

There tusks that have been found are only legal ivory to be sold today

This is another carved piece on it's stand . 7 " tall 3" wide of woman ,child and flowers .

The stand is a natural root wood stand. Beautiful! Where did you get these carvings??
    5. Manikin Manikin, 4 years ago
Celine from a Art Gallery that was closing in NY many years ago and not inexpensive . I thought stand looked like a root and they all have numbers on bottom . Is it teak wood ?

    13. Celiene Celiene, 4 years ago
They just call it rootwood. Could probably come from any wood with interesting roots.
