Standing 15" tall and about 8" in diameter at the base, this ewer by Roseville Pottery is on a grand scale. The décor is from the Magnolia series, featuring pink & white magnolia flowers on a forest green body with branches. The bulbous body tapers to a graceful neck with piercings on either side near the top of the handle. The eared spout curves outward from the neck and the lip pouts downward. The base is marked in raised markings Roseville 15-15" There are also a few ink and incised markings. This dates to c. 1943. These once catalogued for very high prices, but the market for Roseville is depressed at the moment, which may represent a good buying opportunity for collectors.

Right on Phil... I bought this one "well" about 10 years ago from an antique store that was going out of business and they were selling everything at half price at the time. I only paid about 1/3 of a "book" value back then, but even so, I doubt I could sell it for what that today. Fortunately I believe in only buying stuff that I actually like, so I'm still happy. One day it may go back up again :-)

My remembrance is older yet, from the 80's when these were at their peak. However, that does not include when books came out later which usually drove the prices up for a time. It is one of their best pieces I believe.

Yes Phil, before the internet in the '80s - early '90s Roseville from this era was commanding strong prices. Even older & better Roseville such as "Futura" isn't as expensive as once upon a time.
