    Hi CW Gang ~

This came with the other 2 Czech vases I just posted also. This is a MONSTER!! It must weight at least 8 pounds, if not a bit more!! It is 10 inches tall with a top opening of about 6.50 inches. Now I would say Czech SKRDLOVICE, The bottom tells the story Plus there is lots of good wear on the bottom too for age. Now there is a number on the bottom that I thought might be just a Social Insurance Number but there CLEARLY appears to be a P in the front of the number and I know lots of these have a PN number to them in design. Then I noted it looks like the number 62 then either P6255, or P6288, or something. I posted a few pics of the number on the bottom -- and the best that I can read ( OR THINK IT SAYS) IS:

    P 6255 G8 E214

    But that is a Guess.

Lorraine Glass was influenced / Made by Skrdlovice ( for KANADA ) by Myers for Canada as noted in another Post of mine here:

    http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/174163-1962--skrdlovice-art-glass-bowl

So I am trying to figure out the number in full to see if there is something more here or what. Maybe the number means nothing, but maybe it means something. So Thank Goodness for CW.

Thanks for LOOKING // LOVING !!

    ~ Rose ~

    4. vetraio50 vetraio50, 7 years ago
      8.65 inches or 22 cm ???

The design that is closest among the Myers pieces is 6206. According to the drawing it does not have a twist like yours, but that is not too much of a problem. The height on the drawing is is 22 cm or 8.65 ".

Hi Vet. This is about 10 inches tall -- I will measure it again. That other old post from ReBob with the SPM label .. the bottom part of it looks very similar to this one in a sense. Maybe the number means nothing at all on this ~ BUT ~ so funny that:

      a) It looks like there is a letter P in the start of this...
      b) Funny the number there start with 62
      c) Clearly Czech in design, production, and colors -- BUT also very similar to styles of Chalet Glass too. As I kinda see both Czech and Chalet in this one too.
      d) Good Base wear
      e) The lady I got it from was a die hard Chalet collector ( or maybe had collected this over the years too when she was learning ) -- as she had her glass in a published magazine. So why would someone that collects Chalet Glass to drawn to buy/or get this one if they too did not see some Canadian influence to it, just as an interesting FYI
      f) and the colors of my other KANADA piece I posted below, the colors there on that bowl are like this one here of this big vase above

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/174163-1962--skrdlovice-art-glass-bowl

      g) ....and I had a marked Chalet Art Glass Piece that looks like it could be related to this above Blue-ish big vase.

So here is a clearly marked Chalet piece that looks to be related to this blue glass post of Czech maker. This Chalet piece weighed about 8 pounds of glass

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/122112-8-pounds-of-glass--chalet-art-glass

Just very interesting I think.....and quite a few mystery or strange things about it that are just too coincidental ( in my Opinion ).

Mine does not match up with the height you mention .....can there be additional height? Is there any missing info/ Pages from those sheets ?? Could it be a one of ?? Who knows.....but I am really interested to hear your opinion too. I will pop over to GMB too and see what is said. Thanks Vet.

By the way those links above now work fine. It is so good to see them again. That last Chalet piece looks like a Skrdlovice design 6205 but with some clear wings.

If I were you I would get in contact with Robert Bevan Jones on this one. It may be another design in the 'Kanada' series. Skrdlovice pieces are normally not marked in this manner.

Thanks VET -- as you said in comment # 7 -- looks like a Skrdlovice piece, BUT clearing marked Chalet!!!

As per your comment # 8 -- I did pop over to GM and just did post it there. Yes would like to hear what bODA has to say, or Jindra have to say. So I just did that as I am a little confused and excited on this....

@ Vet - I have a question for you.... a little off topic but kinda related. Wayne has on his site ( see the first Row ) a piece identified as Czech Harrachov

      http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/bohemian_glass/harrachovglass_home.htm

...but then on Micheal Blais site for Chalet Glass he has the same piece ( listed there with his reference number ) of CHALET GLASS, c 151. I just point that out to you to find it in the list there. It is just his personal number for it -- not a production number or anything.

      http://mblaisgallery.com/home/category/chalet-glass/

So sure -- Somebody attribution is wrong, and not sure if either of those piece were marked..........but somewhere in the back of my mind, I seem to recall at sometime asking about a piece like this that was marked as Chalet -- and the lady kinda said she thought it looked kinda like a angel bend over a bit with her hand in front of here ( ?? ) Guess can kinda see that. But I ask this question as is that piece Czech Harrachov ??? or ???? Chalet. Or were both made for different companies ??

Just thought I would run that one by you too.....as I am getting ????

I have seen Harrachov pieces with the Earl Myers sticker (and Italian pieces too ) ... so it is quite possible that he had links with more than one factory. Not surprising really since everything was state controlled in those days. He certainly imported workers from Murano to set up Lorraine ... some of whom were pinched by Chalet. I suspect he also imported Czech workers.

I've been doing research on Czech contacts with Australian glass in the early thirties. It did happen. Earlier they went to Denmark. A glass diaspora.

Some returned to Czechoslovakia and others did not.

I am not at all surprised to see that design as being Chalet. But it is a design by Milan Metelak and Milos Pulpitel for Harrachov.

I love the shape and color combination Rosie! It almost reminds me of melting ice. Sorry so late, but as usual, I'm playing catch up :-)

I know the early drawings can be difficult to read but this one is a real challenge to my eye for a 5479 : ‘rozbourené more’. Any idea what those numbers mean ???
