Early automobile top bow clamps. they don`t open very wide, the second pic shows them wide open. They are all metal except for a hard rubber cushion on upper inside. The beveled shaft is hollow, like it is part of another piece. The only markings is the number 418 stamped inside bottom frame. Found in an old farmhouse. Thanks slackjack for solving the mystery and the information!!!! Thanks for looking! Rob

Hey tater send me some sunshine! Winter is back and the farmhouse and barn have been pretty much cleaned out. Going to try to salvage parts of the house before it`s bulldozed.

Early auto parts ! These are top bow clamps to hold the bows when the top is folded down on a touring car. Teens through twenties . They mount on the back corners of the body and these are held in with a through bolt into the body iron . They are wedge shape to mate with a corresponding wedge that will then keep the clamp vertical . The mount form is distinctive , but I cannot identify the specific car . Valuable if you can name the car , Most are missing and folks in need are searching desperately !
