    austrohung…
    (584 items)

These two vases stand 13 (yellow) and 24 (blue) cm. tall. The net Ausfúhrung number they belong to remains unknown.

The origin of this decor seems to be a 1918 vase designed by Michael Powolny (pic. 4) that is kept in Vienna's MAK and that can also be seen at Elisabeth Frottier's book on Powolny. At the Lötz Pavilon Skla in Klatowy (PASK) a yellow vase with the very same decor is on display.Jericho showed some of these wonderful vases some years ago.

They seem to be rare, asnd, incredible as it may sound, the Passau Glasmuseum hasn't got any, so we're very happy and proud of our "harlequin" couple.

    UPDATE June 29th 2019
Thanks to LoetzDance, I can already tell the name of this decor: Ausf 220 "Korbgeflecht"

Many of the pieces previously exhibited at the MAK are now on exhibit at the PASK. The same collector loaned his collection to both institutions but pulled his collection from the MAK to create the PASK exhibit. It is quite likely that the "harlequin" vase seen earlier at the MAK is the same one now on exhibit at the PASK. The vase shown in the 4th photo is amazing! Love it. BTW, there is a new exhibit that just opened at the PASK featuring Tango glass. It runs until April 2017. Sure wish I could see this exhibit. While Tango glass was produced in great quantities, there has been little information published from the Loetz archives about this glass. I know Jitka has been working on a book to address the Tango glass production. Maybe the exhibit at the PASK will shed some new light on this period.

Thanks all for your loves and comments!

As for the great quantities tango glass was made in, I guess that Lötz would work with Tango glass in the same way they did with iridiscent glass, where some decors were made "in the thousands" whereas from others, and here Jitka's first book is a great source of information, just a couple of vases were manufactured... and so I think happened with Tango.

This "harlequin" decor sure is a difficult one to make and so far, carlos has oly seen three for sale in 30 years of search. Luckily he was able to get two of them ;)
