This cat has been busy and has recently left me . This art pottery piece is by Mitchell Grafton for Round Tree Pottery , a 2005 production when he was lead on design and shortly before leaving to open his own studio in Panama City Fl. in 2009 . He makes one of a kind , special orders and some grotesque pieces that are very appealing to the eye ; odd and whimsical , colorful objects . Grafton Pottery , Panama City FL. and a Facebook page .
This cat has feathers coming out of his mouth , wire whiskers on a small head , large body with crackle glazed belly and raku fired with that wonderful color . Has artist signature , date and pottery studio "RTP" along base .

maryh1956 -- this playful pottery piece was sold to a new home and I hope they are enjoying it as much as I did.

I know it's been a while since you posted about the cat. I came across the Grafton dog at an estate sale today. He's from 2005. Sorry the picture is crooked but it would not save in the vertical rightside up (although I could get it upside down!). The paper in his mouth is a horoscope that says "what everyone around you has to offer and stop working for a day." I thank you for the history lesson - very helpful.
