This beautiful Loetz Phänomen decoration dates to about 1900. The form, for which a production number has not been found to date, has also been seen with applied drops in decors such as Vesuvian and PG 1/64. In fact, this is the first time I've seen this shape without applied drips. PG 181 is characterized with an orange ground, and broad silver/yellow applied threading, which is pulled upward in long pulls flanked by two shorter ones, repeated three times around the body of this vase. The spots where the long pulls are present are also indented. Properly signed "Loetz Austria" within the polished pontil.
