Recently purchased a new black glass 2.5" pendant from an online bead store. I was told it was 1950's NOS. Today I strung it with old Czech facet beads, a few pyramids and long tube beads. 28" long and the pendant makes the total 31". Easy to slip over and has a nice vintage feel. I tried to knot each bead but the thread frayed and it was dry and uncooperative - I just did my famous fast bead string technique.

Hope you enjoy this redo. The etsy seller said she would post my necklace on her shop update because she liked this simple creation. That's nice!!!

      Wow this is stunning!
What is your famous fast bead string technique?

Thanks bijou - I have a big shoebox full of old black glass, plastic, stone beads to pick from.

Thanks kyra - I also bought a square shape w/art nouveau motifs that is pretty.

Thanks Bonnie and Thomas for your nice comments.

Thanks lentilka - the secret is to use tiny (size 15) tonal colored beads that from a distance look like knots! I also use steel cut charlottes from broken vintage bags for this purpose.

Thanks friends for loving my Egyptian necklace: Rose, Hel1, Marta, Kevin, pebble, EZa and czechglass5 :-)

Really well done! It looks so good, like it's always been that way :-)
I'm wondering if you have any tips on how to do the final knot.... I have to restring one of my favourite old necklaces, but in the past when I try to do the final knot, the strand usually ends up looser than it should be- not a good outcome :-(

You are very welcome Zilla! Please let me know you copied my email address so I can delete it here. :-)

Thank you lentilka - you are always so nice regarding my obsessions :-)

How clever and artistic you are. The perfect size beads, in the perfect places for them. Very pleasing to the eye.

There's a store on Etsy that sells old Czech glass beads - some still in their original paper wrapping in original box - she has so many. They're quite beautiful. But, they have a hole in the very top, so a bale would be required, and I'd mess that up so, so quickly.

Just think what you've done with your 'Mummy' is wondrous!

Thank you Elisabeth! I wish they were real Neiger beads though.....

Thank you Gillian - Yes, that's the store I bought this and other beads from. She might use my design on her store page :-)

Yes, Mary, very envious of this one, l had a similar sarcophagus shaped one which I used as a mold and though I had a handful of metal ones, I made many from car body filler which dries in about 5 minutes and put them up around my egyptian border. I could hardly tell them apart.

Sounds very interesting, would love to see the end result! Thanks for commenting on my fake Neiger...or maybe call it tribute to Neiger? :-)

Elisabeth - thanks for your love! These faceted black beads are called English cut. Lots of them around and always work well when upcycling or restoring old necklaces.
