This week's ebay purchase: 4 wonderful (great-priced) carved bakelite brooches ranging from 2"- 3". Yellow is hard to photograph! The first pin is same as the red one I posted awhile back, but I like the shortest and oval most. The seller had 21 more - all same color. She just said they all came from the same estate, but had no other information. Sad! I would like to know why someone would collect all the same color bakelite pins. Who would do that? :-)

Pic 2 shows embedded hardware. Pic 3 is a better exposure of the curved pin. And the last picture is two I've had for a long time: a beautiful carved orchid flower clip and a round pin to be worn with the short bar because they look good together!

These were all originally white. The first one looks semi-translucent. It might have been a pale pastel...dirty snow or even a light apricot hue. I think it's the newest - 1950's. The others are from the 30's or 40's.

Well, this should do it for yellow.....

Bonnie thanks for your first, fast love and wonderful comment! This is my weakness obviously :-)

Thanks Gudrun - you don't see the garbajo I have!

Thanks Share - these came from Iowa, my niece could have picked them up for me. And, yes they are so great!

Thanks Ken - basically I bought them because the first one matched my red one, but I was thrilled to get 4. I think today I like the surf board best :-)

      Thank you Mani :-)

I love the carving in these, what a great group!
I don't think the new ones match your oldies however; the flower triangle pin is fantastic.

Karen, thank you - the flower clip is expensive now online. I've had it so long, I probably didn't pay more than $5 for it. Same with the circle which balances very nicely w/the shortest of my new purchases. They are already pinned to a dress form to remind me to wear them together. I also like to pin these to old funky bags (shopping totes) when I go to the swap meet.

Hi Katherine and thank you for your nice comment :)

Thanks friends for loving my"used to be white, now they are sun-tanned" bakelite pins: Aura, Mrsstyndal, Phil, Hel1, Bijou, Kyra and Judy :-)

Lentilka - thank you! I know just enough to be dangerous....wrong sometimes too....:-)

Beautiful, juicy collection - the colour is perfectamundo! How did they become these colours if they used to be white? Is bakelite porous?

The flower dress, or jacket clip is just amazing.

Thank you Gillian. Bakelite oxidizes and turns darker over time unless it's kept covered in a box. But how likely is that to happen after 60 or more years? The flower clip is a favorite. I dropped it a while back and there's a chip now. boo hoo, oh well, I still love it.

This is one of my favourite colours that you have, that and green.

Thanks Phil for your comment - these used to be white and now beautiful egg yolk to butterscotch. It's interesting to realize that women in the 30's-40's liked white, bought these as white brooches.
