    Cementups
    (1 item)

My mother in law bought this at an antique shop and was told it was a crimper of some sort but they didn't seem to sell that fact well. Any help identifying what this really is would be of great help. And it is definitely not a spout of any sort.
When you pull the trigger that little lip sticking out comes down over the end. The opening is about 1/2" deep and whatever you may "clip" stays right in the opening.

Hum... I think your mother in law bought an antique speculum! Many shapes and models on google images.

Tell her to show it to her gynecologist :-)

Thanks kyra, but that's not it. It doesn't spread open like a speculum would. As I said in the description, it appears to cut something off. Or maybe pit fruit. Definitely not something insertable.

Uh... it appears I didn't fully read your description! :-/

Happily you didn't try to use is as a speculum ;-D

Forgot to welcome you to CW!

OIL SPOUT CUTTER <<<< cutter didn't go in.

Ha, I thought it was a cigar cutter! Oil can sounds more like it. :)
    8. Cementups, 7 years ago
It is neither a cigar cutter or a oil can spout/cutter.

The opening is not big enough for a cigar so it's definitely not a cutter.
And there is a lip just on the inside that would make it hard to connect to an oil can.

no idea on use but better description and photos might help. is the 'blade' very sharp and pointed or oval. is the 'trigger' spring loaded to stay open as pictured here. try a photo with the trigger pulled (tie with string if necessary) showing the 'closed' position; show an angle looking at the 'business end' of the whatsit. looks as if the curved section serves has a handle that nestles in the palm to assist in squeezing the 'trigger'

The little lip inside is just to balance the opener on the edge of the rim while the cutter is doing its business. Or so I think.

I only have two cents but will throw it in here. Finger blood letting device. I know, you never heard of it.

Show us a picture of it with the trigger pulled all the way back.
