My friend and I found this beautiful beaded bag yesterday while shopping the famous Roundtop, TX antique flea markets. She took these pictures of the micro beaded bags for experts on CW to help ID the country of origin or give any comments.

This has broken tortoise shell inside the metal top frame. Top button is black bakelite or another plastic. Might even be jet. Approximately 7"x10" with elaborate fringe. It has a pocket w/mirror but no label.

We think this is from Germany but if anyone knows more please chime in.

OMG these are amazing! So perfect. I actually just saw something that may be very similar in a book...give me a few to find it again! Wow. And the ones I did find were very pricey!

There is probably writing inside of the frame of the bag. Look on the hinges also! I can already tell the one on the left has a hand forged strap. I'll be back with more info I hope. I can't get over them!

Katherine - these are my friend's pictures from yesterday (in Texas, and now I'm back home in California) but I saw the inside - no labels. I will ask her to take more pictures in her lightbox. These were quick "OMG let's post"!!!

Share - I'll ask for more pictures. Thank you - yes, I think it is a sterling frame.

      Aren't they beautiful?!

Oh Mary, yesterday I wrote how when I saw this bag on Show and Tell, I thought it was a tile, the beads are so tight, I thought it was glaze, but I forgot to submit it! :^D
So here it is today! :^)

Bill - it does look like a tile. I love those old tiles too! We were sad about the broken tortoiseshell but the dealer worked with us on price. Always nice to hear from you!

Thank you friends for loving this work of art beaded bag: Caperkid and Zilla!

I'll look it up in my reference book when I get home. Wonderful bag with the smallest of microbeads!

Thanks Elisabeth. I have 3 books but nothing was quite like this. Isn't this just beautiful?? I think I sent you some other photos of my friends collection.

Thanks CW friends for clicking love: Karenoke, shughs, Antique Toys, Sanhardin!

Yes you did val. I think it's hard to find exact examples of purses in the books. A lot of them where homemade. I think from the pattern, shape, frame etc the style can give you a hint. This is a very beautiful bag, the colors are wonderful!!

Thank you Elisabeth and for your links to Pinterest beaded bags :-) So many beautiful designs!

This purse is beaded on canvas, likely made in Germany (where most beaded purses were made) from a pattern. 1915-1925. Beautiful colors/pattern!

Thank you gundy57 - it is very supple and gorgeous with the elaborate tortoiseshell frame. I think it was a purchase from a millinery, dress shop or a wonderful store like Selfridges (LOL). Yes, I think it's German too because of the vibrant, abstract design but I am not an expert on purses. It looks similar to items in my resource books. Thank You again! I might meet you on another collector site that I just joined.
