This is a trunk I just finished for a customer, obviously the trunk was painted, the metal wasn't to bad to strip, but the wood had three layer's of paint, silver over green over red. Cleaned up nicely, repainted the black, the silver looking color is the natural pure zinc color, lined it with cedar, the trunk was made prior to 1880. Pure zinc will not hold a magnet, as zinc or tin coated sheet metal will, makes it a little more rare as they didn't make pure zinc trunks very long, to costly, hope you like. greendog

Thank's Drill, dropped it off yesterday to the lady and her husband, they could not believe what it looked like. The trunk has been in the family for as long they could remember but has always been painted, they were very happy and couldn't wait to show the family, thanks to all for looking, greendog.
