Good afternoon everyone,
Pictured above is a 2nd edition Britains 2 pounder anti - aircraft gun on mobile chassis produced in 1946. Collection: Britains Anti-Aircraft units of The British Army. Approx. dimensions: 5" long wheel to wheel, 2" wide, 2" high. Scale 1:32 Model # 1717 originally designed in 1939, comprising 1715 bofors aa gun and chassis 1616. Version 1 with white rubber wheels. In 1946, back into production with black rubber wheels in khaki color. Later version 3 with plastic wheels and green color. In 1962, still renumbered in 9735 (production after the war between 1946-1962).
Mounted on turn table on rubber tyred trailer chassis with two thrust girders and 4 leveling screws the latter being used to raise the gun from the wheels when in action.
LOADING: Draw back triangular brass breech cover and swing over to right side. Insert shell in muzzle.
FIRING: Place forefinger on breech cover swing back to normal position when shell will be propelled.
Worm gearing is provided to raise or lower barrel.
At one time this actually propelled small plastic shells which I don't have and the worm gear to raise and lower the barrel is missing. Otherwise it is in good shape for it's age.
Had this one as a kid. OK, OK, I'm still a kid !

I had one of these back in the day and used to annoy the cat, until he started fighting back!
My one was a hand me down and while did fire the shells, which we had, we used matchsticks as well, trying to lit the match head required two nasty kids working as a team!

Still there after 3 years? Thanks for your nice post with info and pictures of this awsome vintage AA gun! I bought one too for a few euros, also with some defects. What puzzles me is that the turret of mine can't turn, it's stuck on the chassis and can only turn when one loosens the 3 screws. Some former owner has put some too long screws right through the bottom.. When you loosen them the whole turret comes loose. It seems on your pictures as if you can turn the turret without loosening the screws. Could you throw a light on this and tell me how your turret is mounted to the chassis? Thanks in advance for your answer!
Sounds like they are interrupted thread screws. Could be a bit of trouble finding the right ones. Maybe you'll be lucky and it won't be Whitworth threads. LOL !
Thanks for your comment blunderbuss2 and thinking along, but I don't see how it could turn even with interrupted screws. Perhaps Roddyq has a different version of the gun?
