Groovy buttery color 35" link belt from the mid-1970's. Altho bakelite lost its patent in 1929 the same formula for phenolic plastic was used to make beautiful jewelry and fashion items for many years. This belt still turns the test cloth yellow with simichrome and passes the famous chemical smell rub test. Despite my YSL research books (pic 1) this isn't shown. It would have been a license line that Mr. Laurent may never have seen. Available to ladies who wanted a signed YSL for much less $$$ :-)
I bought this for a few bucks in the 80's. It had a few extra links - I remember seeing them apart sitting in the drawer for years...oh well, it still fits - just doesn't have the extra "drape" anymore. I can't gain anymore weight :-) I didn't know it was bakelite until I saw a tortoiseshell example on ebay.
