My parents gave this chest to me about 1965 when we were living in Panama. It is cedar I believe, as there is a powerful cedar smell when it is opened. There is no writing inside or outside, on the bottom. The latch is brass. There are carvings on the top and front. The dimensions are 35" wide, 16.5" deep and 19" high.

Does anyone have any idea what it would be worth?

Probably Camphor Wood Chest. Google should help you from there.

I have a chest very similar to yours, a bit larger but the details are right on target, specifically the carved artwork. If youre able to find any information as to its origin Id be interested to know ! Beautiful chests!!.youd think the artist would take some credit by leaving initials or something on it to identify themselves!:)
