Its a KPM porcelain plaque which can be valuable although of course when they are valuable there are many fakes. I have always wanted one and in the 1980's, and have many sothebys and christies catalogs they are in, they were all around 5k at the time it seemed although some were cheaper. This looks real.

Wonder why this frame has bubble glass, maybe the frame has been replaced ?? Have never seen one with bubble glass, and I have seen hundreds of beautiful kpm's !
    3. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 7 years ago
The picture on KPM's were all painted on porcelain by hand and fired so were NOT meant not to have glass on them.

      Hi PhilDMorris ,
Carol Rutan Here .... Thanks For The Info
So You Think The Porcelain Picture Itself May Have Been In A Different Frame ?
I Can't Read The Back Any Better But Then Again I Really DO NOT Know What I Would Be Reading That Would Have Profound Significantcy To Unsolving The Mystery Of This As You Say To Be A KPM ?! So May I Ask A Dumb Question ? What Does KPM Stand For ?

      HI PHIL D MORRIS ,
I Looked Up KPM ! The Website Gave Me Some Interesting Info , Including It ( The Co. ) Evolved In 1763 By Frederick 11 Of Prussia ! Also Showed Their Product Stamp ! It Just Like The Stamp On The Back Of My Item In Question And The Impression KPM Pressed Into The Porcelain Under The Stamp On The Back And At The Top Of My Product ! Their Stamp Looks Kinda Spear Form Just Like The Website Showed Me !

      Thanks Again , PhilDMorris

      H. BUCKER was the painter on china in Dresden, Pragerstrasse 5.
      Late 19th century.
Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur Berlin (Royal Porcelain Factory) used impressed marks on plaques, but it`s difficult to tell if the scepter mark is genuine. They used impressed numbers to indicate the dimensions. Yours has number 4, meaning it should be 9" by 6"
Anyway, it is signed by H.Bucker and it was not painted in Berlin.

Hi IVAN 49 TY For Your Input / Info So , How Would One Know If Mine Is Genuine Scepter Mark ?
Also When I Originally Decribed This Item I Said It Looked To Have A Oval Bubble Glass Over It But, I 'm Looking At It And It's Just A High Gloss Look To It ! I Which Someone Could See It Up Close It Is Beautifully Painted !!!! You Know The Frame Itself , Is Loose From The Painted Porcelien Picture ! Although The Picture Sets Perfectly In This Frame But , There is Not A Secure Piece ( Anything ) Holding This Painted Porcelain Piece In The Frame ! I Have It Held Together With Two Large Rubber Bands So It Does Not Slip Out Of My Grip ! Anyway , Thank You , Ivan 49

The frame looks antique and it`s difficult to find frames matching oval plaques. There are residues of yellow glue, so that was how the plaque was fixed plus black thick paper overlapping the plaque for let`s say half an inch. You can do the same with any WATER SOLUBLE GLUE. I use Scotch glue pearls soaked in water overnight and then dissolved at low temperature. Never use synthetic glues.
Identification of scepter mark is not too important because the plaque was not painted in Berlin but probably sold as white porcelain to the painter in Dresden. Scepter mark was never registered and it was widely copied and used by many porcelain factories.
Did you take measures ? It should be 9" by 6". If so, the porcelain can be attributed to KPM Berlin, because I doubt other factories would bother to follow KPM Berlin specifications. But that`s a circumstantial evidence and as said not too important, the plaque being painted in Dresden.

Thanks , For Everyone's Hard Work On Helping Me To Solve The Mystery Of My H. Bucker Dresden Oval German Painted Plaque !

To verify: independent painters like Heinrich (aka Henry) Bucker were not affiliated with the KPM, they merely purchased KPM-produced blanks. Both the SPM/KPM Meissen and the KPM Berlin produced and sold a large array of these blanks, specificially geared towards independant studio decorations.

      Greetings from Germany,
      C.S.M.
