I picked up this rocking chair recently and wondering whether anyone can help with indicating how old it may be and where it was made? Any info or pointing me in a direction for research would be appreciated! Thanks

Well, the only major movement between Victorian and Deco was Art Nouveau.

Thanks SpiritBear- upon searching for art nouveau furniture, the chair appears to be more similar to that style. I'll continue to research using that search term

Hi PostCardCollector- any other information that you can provide on the chair? Where would it have been made? Out of what wood? Is it a good idea to get it reupholstered or leave as is? Thanks!

The pictures aren't so great and three are basically the same. No joinery shown at all. You need to learn to show joinery on furniture pieces. Three pictures of the front say nothing. However I did see the casters when I enlarged it and the last picture showed the grain of the wood. I would say it is made of Honduran mahogany based on picture #4. The casters can date it but not alone. The joinery and the material the casters are made of all tell a story. Perhaps you could replace a couple pictures with something more useful. If not then I wish you luck in your search.
